Limeng is a womenswear designer who integrates social issues and humanism into her design practice. Through her design work she aims to challenge people’s thinking about society and has developed collections about the influence of an aging society and the otaku culture.

“I’m curious about what the world would look like without sight and I use tactility as a method to build a world with sight. I see design as an experiment to explore how to communicate through clothing, hoping to awaken people's sensitivity to beauty in daily life through what they could wear. I am constantly seeking new approaches to achieve unexpected results which defines the core of my design philosophy. I do not want to be stuck working in a particular technique or material as it’s too limiting, and there are many powerful tools to convey my thinking.”

Limeng is interested in both knitwear and tailoring and has mastered traditional hand techniques while also embracing innovative materials in her designs. She is very much influenced by eastern culture and society, the complexity of which forms the DNA of her work.

For her thesis collection, Limeng explores the garment as a camera recording and reflecting moments in life. Custom prints are developed through transfer paper exploration and draped to form silhouettes that are informed by the print itself. The story of a day unfolds in scenarios played out in looks that explore random moments of beauty and coincidence, the odd and the ordinary.

Limeng Ye studied for her Bachelor of Arts Fashion Design in Beijing, China, before moving to New York City to pursue her Master of Fine Arts Fashion Design and Society at Parsons The New School.
